If you are not THRILLED with your photographs - if you are dissatisfied for ANY reason at all, I will do two things for you:
1st - At NO CHARGE, I will photograph your child again, and make sure that anything that wasn’t perfect is fixed, without you paying another cent.

Secret #2: The #2 Thing Your Photographer Must Do: “Meet With You And Your Baby Ahead Of Time - Before The Session”
Babies have a very limited attention span. The time that they are awake and happy is very valuable. We want to be sure that everything is perfectly planned for the session way ahead of time! Plus, besides making the photographs turn out so much better, a pre meeting takes all of the stress off of you as a Mom.
11 years ago, I made a decision. I decided then and there that I would NEVER do a photographic session without meeting the family ahead of time. That single decision has made more of a difference to my clients than any other decision I’ve ever made. THERE’S NO COST FOR THIS PRE-SESSION MEETING, and it will only take about 15 minutes, but by the time those fifteen minutes are up, you and your family will be so comfortable with me that when I do the actual session, the expressions will be perfect, natural, and priceless every time.
If I don’t end up being your photographer, make ABSOLUTELY SURE your photographer will meet with you, your husband and your child ahead of time, and AT NO CHARGE. I can’t stress enough what a difference this will make!
Secret #3: “Your Photographer Should Create The Photographs On Location Instead Of In A Boring Studio.”
When I was born, I was the first child and grandchild in my family. My parents and grandparents worked for months preparing a wonderful baby room for my arrival. They painted and sewed curtains. They carefully picked out furniture. Everything was perfect. And I have no memory of that baby room. What I wouldn’t give to have a photograph of
that room. Now, as most of my grandparents have passed away, I sometimes think of how amazing it would be to have a photograph that was created in my baby room.
Even if you don’t have a baby room that you have put blood, sweat and tears into, your home now is the first home that your baby has known in this life. Don’t worry, I’ll help you through this important step of choosing a location.
Even if you choose to have your portrait created in my studio, it is TOTALLY not boring! We only photograph a few people a day. I’ve chosen to run my business very different than most photographers. We have a beautiful nursing room if your baby needs a mid session “break”. And most of all there are no crowds of people waiting in line to be photographed. We allow plenty of time for you and your baby wherever the photographs are created.
Which brings us to our next Secret....And this is a BIG ONE!
Secret #4: “Your Photographer Should
Allow At Least 1 Hour For The Session”
This is a biggie. Most photographers are trying to crank so many sessions through in a day, they only have a short amount of time to photograph each subject. Did you know that the average baby photographer spends ONLY 12.5 MINUTES photographing a baby?! That’s insane!
Fine children’s photography is like a great meal in a fine restaurant: It CAN’T be rushed. The photographer is like your personal chef, preparing the meal for you. The photographer is going to have to “add all the right spices” into the photograph to make it just right. This takes a bit of patience, and a lot of focus. If your photographer knows that in about 15 minutes the next client is going to show up, you’re not going to get the attention you deserve.
Now, it may not take the whole hour to photograph your baby. However, I ALWAYS set aside at least one hour for every session I book. I’ve done some sessions that only took about 20 minutes or so to get a number of stunning images, but the point is - it’s vital to leave that much time open. Don’t let your photographer rush through this. Remember, these are your memories, and it’s up to you to make sure your photographer realizes his or her responsibility to you and your baby.
If I don’t end up being your photographer, make ABSOLUTELY SURE your photographer does spends AT LEAST ONE HOUR photographing your baby. This cannot be rushed!
Secret #5: “Your Photographer Should Help
You Plan Your Baby’s Clothing Carefully”
Baby photography is very different from most other types of photography. Babies have different growth stages and different abilities at each stage. Little babies can easily get lost in an outfit. Older ones may be best photographed with only a diaper cover or if its a little girl, a tutu. Whatever the outfit it must fit the baby’s age and most of all not distract from the eyes.
The eye is the window to the soul. Personality is first noticed in the eye. Even at a really young age! Having “too much” going on with clothing and pattern can easily shift the focus from the child’s eye to something that doesn’t really matter (like the outfit) in the photograph.
Your beautiful baby’s portrait should be carefully planned to feature his or her eyes.
Secret #6: “Your Photographer
Should Include Your Other Children At No Extra Charge”
Now what about older siblings? If you have other children they can be easily included in the session if you want them to be. Did you know that most photographers charge by the number of people being photographed? Not me. My commitment is to creating precious, beautiful memories. This is about your story and your baby’s story. If older brothers and sisters are a part of that story then they should be included.
How valuable would a photograph be to you of all of your children happily together? This might be the most important thing to you. But never choose a photographer who is more interested in their fees than your story.
Secret #7: “Do Not Allow Your Photographer To Use Goofy Props!”
I am shocked by what some studios consider “great” baby photography. Most studios overly use props. Its almost as if the prop they use is more important than the child being photographed.
Strange contraption catalogs are sent to me every month trying to get me to use their “gadget” to help naturally pose babies. Babies feel safe when they are being held. Many times they feel safest when close to their mother or father. This is true of the smallest babies. That’s why I don’t use “contraptions or gadgets” to pose your baby.
The personality is in the eye. If there is the slightest bit of discomfort or fear in a baby’s eyes, your photographs will not be stunning. We use parents in many of our baby sessions in order to get the purest expressions from the child. I’m not saying you have to be in the photograph. There are ways to crop so that you are not in the image. I’m just saying you’ll never see me try to “prop” your baby onto some type of posing table, or strap wings to your baby’s back, or surround him or her with teddy bears.
The focus your baby’s photography should be the baby!
